A day at Elegushi Beach

A day at Elegushi Beach

I really wanted to visit Tarkwa bay but at 4pm I couldn’t start figuring out the logistics of getting there. I decided to make the best out of my visit to Elegushi beach for the third time in my life.

Logistics

Elegushi beach is located at the third roundabout after the Lekki tollgat and is really hard to miss. On this day I originally planned to visit the Nike Art gallery and couldn’t miss the visit to the beach when I noticed how close the beach was. On getting to Elegushi beach, we were asked to pay 1,000 Naira per person and 200 Naira for the car which I felt was really expensive.

I was already there and really wanted to go to the beach before school so I closed my eyes and paid the fee. Immediately our car got in, we were bombarded by guys who wanted us to visit their beach bars. If only they knew how much I just wanted to walk and sit by the beach and not in a bar.

We made our way past them and got to the beachfront, finally! Then I discovered how long it has been since I was at the beach – I forgot how scared I was of the raging water. But also very much in awe by how much life was flowing through the oceans.

I was not impressed by the cleanliness of the beach and these places should definitely be maintained more often. But I loved the rocks and they served as a very beautiful shoot location.

Outfit

I have always envied bikini-clad people at beaches and I know one day, that would be me. But for now, I’m yet to work up the courage to slip on a bikini and show that much skin. So I decided to wear this free – flowing top which I have styled previously on the blog here. It was thrifted for 500 Naira at Yaba market. I paired it with a denim A-line skirt which was the perfect length to show enough skin.

I had been wanting to go to the beach for a long long time and though Elegushi beach was not the best, the experience was wonderful. A day out at the beach to cool off and take in the beach breeze is highly recommended.

I can’t wait to visit the beach again once I’m out of school this weekend (Tarkwa bay this time). This time around I would try a lot more picture concepts as the time spent on this day was too short to take a lot of pictures.
